AgeOfSpace V 1.1.0 – Update Released: Fleet Captains
We are present a major gameplay expansion for AgeOfSpace: the introduction of Fleet Captains, a new strategic system designed to add depth, progression, and long-term decision-making to space combat and planetary defense.
Fleet Captains are unique characters that can be assigned to fleets or planets, providing powerful bonuses based on their skills, experience, and equipped items.
Fleet Captains Overview
Fleet Captains lead fleets and defenses, granting bonuses based on individual stats. Each stat is rated from 0 to 10, where each point provides a direct percentage bonus.
Example:
Attack 4/10 grants +4% attack to the commanded fleet.
Planned Captain stats include:
- Attack
- Shield strength
- Hull integrity
- Fleet speed
- Fuel consumption reduction
- Cargo capacity
- Planetary defense bonus
- Survival chance
- Item survival chance
- Additional stats may be added during balancing
Experience, Levels and Progression
Captains gain experience through battles, based on the amount of resources destroyed, with a defined limit to prevent abuse.
As Captains level up:
- They gain random stat points
- Each new level requires more experience than the previous one
- The Captain’s level is calculated as the sum of all their stats
Captain Death and Survival Mechanics
If a fleet loses a battle, its Captain has a 16% chance of dying. This chance can be reduced down to 5% if the Survival skill is fully upgraded.
If a Captain dies in battle, all items equipped by that Captain are permanently lost.
Captain Items and Expeditions
Captains can equip special items obtained through expeditions (the exact acquisition mechanics will be finalized later).
These items provide bonuses ranging from 1% to 15% to specific ship types in specific areas.
- Items have an 11% chance to break during missions
- This chance can be reduced to 1% with the appropriate skill
- Items are bound to a Captain
- If the Captain dies, all equipped items are lost
Fleet and Planetary Assignment
Fleet Captains can be assigned directly from the fleet page, where their bonuses will be clearly displayed before sending a mission.
Additionally, Captains can be assigned to planetary defense via the Command Center.
New Building: Captain Quarters
A new building, the Captain Quarters, will be introduced to manage all Captain-related features.
From this building, players can recruit Captains using three options:
- Free Captain – Available once every 24 hours per player. Grants a Captain with 1–25 skill points. After the free recruit, it costs 1,000 Antimatter.
- Medium Captain – Free once per week per player. Grants 25–60 skill points. After the free recruit, it costs 5,000 Antimatter.
- Premium Captain – Free once per month per player. Grants 60–100 skill points. Costs 25,000 Antimatter.
Final values may change once the maximum Captain level is fully defined.
Captain Management and Movement
Players will have access to a complete Captain list, where they can:
- View detailed stats
- Assign Captains to fleets or planetary defense
- Equip and manage items
- Move Captains between planets
One Captain transfer is free every 3 days per player. Additional transfers cost 5,000 Antimatter and take 4 hours to complete.
New Technologies
Several new technologies will interact directly with the Captain system:
- Increase the maximum Captain level obtainable
- Reduce waiting time for free recruitment and free movement by 1 hour per level
- Increase all Captain bonuses by +1% per technology level. For example, a 10/10 Attack Captain would gain an additional bonus from this technology.
Battle Reports and Interface Integration
Battle reports will display detailed Captain information for both sides, including:
- Captain level and stats
- Experience gained
- Survival or death outcome

Bug Fixes and Improvements
Alongside this development, several issues and improvements have been addressed:
- Research time display fixed (reported by falcornz)
- Fleet return time mismatch fixed (reported by AfTeRLiFe)
- Flying fleets count now correctly displayed in the sidebar (reported by Jacadi)
- Construction cancellation fixed in Command Center and construction view (reported by The_Soul_Smith)
- Tutorial resource rewards increased (reported by Jackela)
- Various minor bug fixes and translation improvements
- Socket.IO has been replaced with Reverb for improved real-time stability
